Silent Reading Night in July

  • Stoneham Common 35 Central Street Stoneham, Massachusetts, 02180 United States (map)

Join us on the Stoneham Common for an evening of reading (or listening) and getting lost in a book among friends and neighbors.

Bring a book to the Common and use the benches, or bring a lawn chair or blanket, for an evening of quiet reading and community connection.

After a brief welcome and time to get comfortable, readers find a spot anywhere in the Common and enjoy 45 minutes of uninterrupted reading.

We’ll meet up at the end for a casual discussion and share-outs about what we’re reading, memorable themes, favorite authors, and more.
Readers of all ages who can read independently and quietly are welcome.

All formats are welcome: physical books, e-books, audiobooks, graphic novels, manga, poetry, and more.
6:15-6:30 - Arrive and Greetings
6:35-7:20 - Read Silently
7:25-8:00 - Book share and discussion

Rain means we'll postpone to another date. Check back here for updates!

Interested in this year’s Stoneham Reads selection? Our 2026 theme is Stories That Stay With Us, featuring “They Called Us Enemy” by George Takei. This, and companion books, are set aside at the library for you to browse and check out. For this evening, you are invited to bring any book you’re currently reading or would like to read.
