Spring Island Beautification Project
Help Keep Stoneham Beautiful and the Stoneham Garden Club continue our beautification efforts at key locations in town. Last fall, we removed weeds and trash, and planted daffodil bulbs at these sites. This spring, we will plant perennials to further enhance these areas and create welcoming community spaces.
No prior gardening experience is required.
What to Expect
Volunteers will help plant perennials, remove remaining weeds, and clean up the area. This is light to moderate outdoor work and may include bending, digging, and standing for periods of time.

Trowel or weeder
Keep Stoneham Beautiful will provide plants, water for planting, a rake, and bags for collecting waste.

Stoneham Spring Cleanup & Earth Day Celebration
Join Keep Stoneham Beautiful for our 5th Annual Earth Day Celebration and Community Cleanup. This family friendly event brings residents together to help keep Stoneham clean while connecting with local organizations supporting sustainability and environmental stewardship in our community. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, including families, students, and those completing community service hours. Pre-register for your preferred cleanup site here or receive an assignment at check-in.
Event Schedule
10:00 AM Check-In and Cleanup Supplies Distribution at the Gazebo on Stoneham Town Common. Volunteers will pick up supplies, take a quick group photo, and receive cleanup area assignments.

Join us for Stoneham CAN's Annual Meeting to hear a recap of our 2025 projects, plans for 2026, and vote for the 2026 Board of Directors. There will be light refreshments and networking from 6:00-6:30. The business portion of the meeting will start at 6:30 pm. Stoneham Fall Town Cleanup & Daffodil Bulb Planting
Join Keep Stoneham Beautiful for a town-wide litter cleanup and daffodil planting in partnership with the Stoneham Garden Club on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 9-11AM.
We'll meet at the Gazebo on Town Common where you can join us for donuts and coffee, learn more about our work, and pick up your supplies before heading out to your selected cleanup location. Bring gloves if you have them.
You can sign up in advance for an area or just show up and ask for an assignment. This is a family-friendly event.
Banned Books Week Read-In
We invite you to join us on the Stoneham Public Library lawn for a powerful act of solidarity. Bring a banned or challenged book, along with a comfy blanket or lawn chair, and spend some time reading together in good company.

Old Burying Ground Cleanup
As part of Stoneham’s 300th anniversary, join Keep Stoneham Beautiful, the Stoneham Historical Commission, and the Stoneham Garden Club for a volunteer cleanup at the Old Burying Ground.

Pleasant St. at William St.
We’ll gently tend to the historic gravestones, hand-cut grass and weeds, trim invasives along the fence, and pick up fallen branches to help this special site shine.
Bring gardening gloves and hand clippers if you have them.
Please note: the ground is uneven and the stones are fragile—volunteers must use care. Children under 12 must be with an adult.
